Did you know that the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children receive an orthodontic consultation by age 7?

Children at age 7 will have a mix of permanent teeth and baby teeth. During our free consultation we will take photos of your child and a panoramic radiograph. We will be able to see if your child’s permanent teeth will have enough room to erupt or if we need to help them out. Some children will need an early intervention appliance and some will just need to be monitored until all of the permanent teeth have come in and they are ready for braces. During our free consultation we will review with you the treatment plan and investment options thoroughly so that you have all the information you need.

If my child has early intervention does that mean my child is done with treatment?

Not necessarily, most children will need braces after the permanent teeth have all erupted. We call that Phase 2 of treatment. The braces will ensure that all teeth are in the correct position and give your child the beautiful smile they deserve.

Why move baby teeth?

The purpose of early intervention is no moving baby teeth to improve their appearance. Did you know that most permanent teeth are much larger than the baby teeth they will be replacing? Early intervention gives us the opportunity to create space for those larger teeth. It also helps make the braces a faster and easier treatment when the permanent teeth are present.
